Well Prepped Life — Service

A Real Chef, Cooking Fresh and Delivering to Your House

You are not looking for a cooking class. You are not looking for a meal kit. You want a real professional who understands what your parent needs, knows how to work within their dietary restrictions, and will show up reliably every week with real food so you do not have to worry about whether there is food in the house. Well Prepped Life is exactly that. Founder Justine Sanidad, a ServSafe-certified chef based in Mountain View, built this service for seniors and disabled adults in the Bay Area who need professional cooking help without the physical burden of a kitchen visit. We cook everything fresh at our own kitchen and deliver a week of real, medically appropriate meals straight to your door — never frozen, never shipped from a warehouse.

What a Well Prepped Life Delivery Actually Includes

A Well Prepped Life chef plans a custom menu in advance around your health conditions, dietary restrictions, and food preferences. We spend three to four hours cooking fresh at our own kitchen the same day your food goes out. Output is eight fresh, portioned meals a week, a mix of lunches, dinners, and breakfast or snack items as needed. Every container is labeled with the dish name, the date, and reheat instructions in large, easy-to-read type, then delivered cold to your door. You did not have to shop, plan, chop, cook, or clean. You open the door and your fridge is stocked for the week.

How the First Delivery Works

We start with a free 15 minute call at your home, not a phone script. We ask about diagnoses, current medications that affect diet, favorite foods, foods you refuse, and what a typical week of eating actually looks like right now. Family members can join in person or by phone if they live elsewhere. From that conversation, we design your first week's menu. The first delivery follows the same rhythm as every one after it: we shop that morning, cook for three to four hours at our own kitchen, and deliver a fridge-ready, labeled week of meals to your door. Most new clients can be scheduled within one to two weeks; faster if the need is urgent, such as a hospital discharge.

Medical Diets We Cook For

This is not generic senior cooking. We routinely build menus around Type 2 diabetes and low-glycemic eating, heart failure and hypertension with a specific sodium ceiling, chronic kidney disease with sodium, potassium, and phosphorus controls, soft/pureed textures for clients managing dysphagia, celiac and other allergen restrictions, and post-surgical recovery diets built around higher protein targets for healing. If your cardiologist, nephrologist, or dietitian has given you specific numbers, we build the week's menu around those numbers rather than a vague label like "low-sodium." We also cook culturally specific menus, including Filipino, Chinese, Vietnamese, Mexican, and Italian-American cooking, inside whatever medical restrictions apply.

Why Fresh Chef-Cooked Delivery Beats the Alternatives

Mass-produced commissary and frozen delivery services (Mom's Meals, Magic Kitchen) ship food from a central kitchen days before it reaches you, which means the texture and sodium level are fixed at the point of packaging, not tuned to your week. Raw-ingredient kits (HelloFresh, Sunbasket) still require someone able and willing to cook every night. Home-care agency aides can reheat a meal during a shift that is mostly companionship or personal care, but scratch cooking from real ingredients is rarely part of that work. Well Prepped Life cooks fresh the same day it's delivered, adjusts the following week's menu based on how you actually ate, and the same chef gets to know your specific preferences and restrictions over time. That is the difference between food that is technically compliant with a diet and food you actually look forward to eating.

What It Costs

Two weekly plans, plus groceries at cost. The Foundation plan is $180/week — one weekly visit, one diet, and eight fresh meals — and fits most single-senior households. The Coordinated plan is $200/week, covering one visit with a wider menu built for two overlapping diets in the same household, such as a couple where one person needs low-sodium and the other needs a soft-mechanical texture, and it adds a written weekly family report plus a caregiver text channel. During the four to eight weeks after a hospital discharge, most families stay on the Coordinated plan or take the four-week recovery block ($700, which saves $100), then step back down. That works out to about $22 to $25 a meal. There is no long-term contract. See the [pricing page](/pricing) for the full breakdown of what each plan includes.

Great- very adaptable!

I needed some extra help cooking health(ier) meals, and I found Well Prepped Life at the beginning of June. I first gave the service a try because of the empathy, business sense, and creativity shown on the website, and am sticking with it because the owner, Justine, is *also* a fabulous cook and person. Over the past several months, Justine and I have gotten a system dialed in: my family orders 8 meals a week: two sets of four meals each with protein, veggie, and carb and we develop a menu on Sundays or Mondays with Justine’s help (which because I have limited ideas is basically taking her thoughtful and varied suggestions!) Meals are cooked on Tuesdays in a commercial kitchen and Justine drops them off at our house on Tuesdays in a cooler, where I also leave the washed glass containers from the previous week for exchange. I love the business model, where because food costs are directly passed through and I pay a fixed price for cooking, I can specify the kind and amount of ingredients — generally organic and large portions — so 1 meal will feed an adult with a big appetite, or 2 people with smaller appetites. I also love how open Justine is to feedback — for example, I had requested glass containers and she made them available the next week. On the rare occasion that a dish *hasn’t* been a hit, Justine has really listened to my comments and says “Yep, I get it, I’ll do X and Y next time” and does it — which is exactly the kind of person that I want to be working with. Well Prepped Life basically takes care of most dinners for the work week when the adults are pressed for time *and* is delicious, homemade, high-quality food that I wish I could make myself. Our family has been eating much better and has gotten a lot of time back.

Medicare does not cover general in-home meal prep or personal chef services. Some Medicare Advantage plans cover short-term medically tailored meals after a hospital discharge. Most families spend less per month on Well Prepped Life than a single day in a skilled nursing facility.
